Blog 2-An Eye Opener

After reading the first couple of sections of The Green Halo, Kohak makes strong arguments about how we as humans have misused nature throughout history and now we are seeing the results of this misuse. He talks about how throughout history we have been given different interpretations on how nature should be utilized. Whether it is here for us to use as resources, that it is here only for us as humans to use and therefore completely disregard the consequences of our actions towards it. Or to live in harmony with nature, coexisting and not destroying it for our own purposes.
When referring to nature, Kohak is not only talking about the trees and the grass. He is including animals as well. He discusses how humans have also mistreated animals throughout history as well. That they didn't have a "soul" and therefore mistreatment of them were not out of the norm. Kohak argues that we should also live in harmony with animals coexisting and that we have before.
Kohak also discusses how humans are overpopulating the world and therefore we are using more natural resources than the world can give us. That this is also why we are experiencing so many changes in the environment and the way we live. That it might even be too late to change anything that previous generations have done to the environment. Kohak says that our way of living needs to change drastically because nature won't be around any longer if we don't.
So far, I have found the readings as an eye opener because I hadn't realized how bad the problem with the environment has been until now. And that throughout history, it hasn't been such an issue until now. I agree with Kohak in that we have to change our ways of living as humans to better improve the environment and overall the world. Though at times it seems that Kohak is being harsh with us as humans, he makes very good points. I'm looking forward to reading more about what Kohak has to say.
