ecofeminism and depth ecology

With depth ecology it is the idea of reconnecting with nature by overcoming the dominance. What Koha'k is trying to get out of this is that we should stop trying to dominate nature and try to be more on the same level as nature. In our society we look at nature as being below us becuase we believe that the animals and other aspects are not as smart and deserving to be on the same level as humans. In the thought of David Abram we need to reinhabit with nature in the sense that we need to get away from all of the technology that we consume our lives with and go back to the simple ways of life and live off of nature in some sense and try to appreciate what has been created for us. Our critical thinking is what distances ourselves from nature because what we think is best for us can help us draw away from nature in that our way of thinking about technology is more important to us then nature itself.

The thought of ecofeminism is the identification of the oppression of women with that of nature/animals. The sense of ecofeminism happens often in the sense that with animals the males have certain jobs then the females. In a sense the females are in charge of takign care of the children and they have more of the nurturing aspect to their life. With the males they are more responsible for defending and protecting their families and doing more of the "labor" work. Through this idea I think that it goes back to the way that things used to be in life in that the women were meant to stay at home and the men do all of the work, it almost goes to this sexist state of mind.
